DIY Chevron rug

ok..ok.. I know chevron is so in right now and it will most likely be outdated in a few months but I dont really care because I love what I love and thats that.. I have had a love affair with chevron ever since I can remember and Ive been putting off "making" a rug for a while...

Has anyone made one? I have seen various methods online. Some people paint on canvas, some people paint a jute rug and others use fabric and adhere it to something a little more durable.. while they are all pretty, I would like to see if anyone has experience in making ANY of these...

Of course I know a zillion sources for amazing rugs but this is more realistically in my budget right now so thoughts and/or comments would be more than helpful!
